American Crocodile

- found in the Neotropics.
- from South Florida and the coasts of Mexico to as far south as Peru and Venezuela.
- prefers salinity, resulting in this species congregating in brackish lakes, mangrove swamps, lagoons, cays, and small islands.
- is one of the largest crocodile species.
- swallow stones to aid in digestion and to control buoyancy in the water.
