- The Takin grows a thick, secondary coat to keep out the chill during the bitter cold of winter in the rugged Himalayan Mountains, which it sheds for the summer.
- This stoky ungulate is found in the eastern Himalyas of China, Bhutan, India, and Myanmar. These animals live in various habitats ranging from forested valleys to rocky, grass-covered alpine zones.
